BXB Land Solutions Ltd, has agreed the sale of a 10-acre site at the former Bridge Mills site, in Tintwistle, to Barratt Homes Manchester.

With outline planning approval for up to 165 residential units secured in March 2018, Barratt will submit a reserved matters application to deliver new homes in this increasingly popular location for families and young professionals.

This brownfield site, which was acquired by BXB in January 2017, had remained derelict for over 10 years and since its acquisition, outline planning permission has been secured along with the acceptance of a remedial strategy for residential development.

Gary Goodman, director at BXB Ltd, said: “This marks the first project completed by BXB. Our team has done a fantastic job in bringing the land back into productive use in a really short space of time, and we are delighted that a sale has now been agreed with Barratt Homes.

“We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline currently, we look forward to providing sustainable and deliverable development solutions to problematic sites and playing our part in delivering clean, residential land to housebuilders, so that they can continue to meet the challenging housing targets set by the government.”

Holly Stiles, Senior Land Manager at Barratt Manchester, said: “We are very happy to have secured this fantastic development site and look forward to delivering much needed housing in Tintwistle.”

The development is situated just off the New Road on the banks of the River Etherow. Barratt Homes expects work to start on site in Tintwistle in summer 2018.

Planning consultant Nexus advised BXB on the project. Mason Owen advised on securing the funding for the initial acquisition of the site and CBRE, Manchester advised BXB on the sale.
