BXB Tintwistle Ltd have commissioned Nexus Planning to submit an outline planning application for 165 residential units on their behalf at the former Bridge Mills site, Tintwistle. The former landfill site, secured by the specialist land development company last October, has been redundant for the last 10 years despite receiving planning permission for residential development. BXB identified the site, located within the settlement of Tintwistle, as having the potential of providing good quality family housing. Director of BXB Gary Goodman confirmed, ‘our project team moved quickly to achieve a planning submission after securing the site. Our pre-application discussions, community consultation and discussions with the local members have all been extremely positive, therefore we made an early decision to move forward quickly and present our planning submission as there is a real desire to see this former landfill remediated and brought back into productive use. If our planning submission is approved High Peak council will be able to draw down their ‘New Homes Bonus’ from central government which is likely to exceed £1m, plus the new homes delivered on site will take development pressure off sensitive greenfield sites in the area and a key section of the Trans Pennie Trail will also be provided. We hope to secure a positive planning decision so remediation works can commence in the summer of 2017′.
