Former Bridge Mills site, Tintwistle, High Peak

BXB secured the 10-acre Bridge Mills site in Tintwistle in October 2016.  The former landfill site had previously benefitted from a residential planning permission and had failed to come forward for development due to viability concerns relating to the site’s unique engineering & remedial constraints.

BXB secured the  site on the basis that it could deliver good quality family housing and make a positive contribution to the local community by removing this blighted site.

BXB commissioned a bespoke project team to formulate an outline planning application for 165 residential units. The planning application was submitted within 6 months of securing the site and included a comprehensive public exhibition and extensive public consultation.  BXB presented a viable and deliverable remedial and technical strategy to the local planning authority that enabled clean residential land to be offered to the house building sector and facilitate the delivery of much needed new family housing to the area.

Planning permission for 165 residential units was granted in June 2017and BXB subsequently agreed a sale of the site to Barratt Homes Manchester
